Welcome to Gardens Ottawa. As a capital city, Ottawa boasts many attractions, historic buildings, landmarks and famous sites. Ottawa is also a garden city with over 140 public gardens, linked in the city centre by the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Ottawa River and scattered throughout the urban and rural landscape of the larger city area.
On March 16th, 2019 Gardens Ottawa held a very successful Spring Symposium at the Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre, hosted by Councillor Mathieu Fleury. The theme this year was “Ottawa – A City of Gardens”. Gardeners and gardening groups joined us to have a conversation on what we need to focus on to make Ottawa bloom as a City of Gardens. The following is a summary of comments received from a questionnaire by Gardens Ottawa between February 8th and April 1st, 2019. Survey Results
The gardens shown on the Ottawa Gardens Map are located in all manner of places, lending their beauty to public and private settings, parks, memorial sites, community centres, roof tops, green walls and more, including many member community gardens across the city.
